Common questions
See a surgeon if you have a lump or swelling, a bulge in the groin or abdomen, recurring pain in the upper abdomen after meals, bleeding from the back passage, or a breast lump. Your doctor may also refer you after a scan shows a condition that needs an operation.
Laparoscopic, or keyhole, surgery is performed through small cuts using a camera and fine instruments, which usually means less pain, smaller scars and a quicker return to normal activity. Many operations, such as gallbladder removal and hernia repair, can be done this way, but the best approach depends on your condition and general health. Your surgeon will discuss the options with you.
Come to Emergency for severe or worsening abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, a painful hernia that will not go back in, vomiting blood or passing black stools, or any serious injury. Our Emergency is open 24 hours, every day; call 021-422601.
BMCTH accepts Government Health Insurance and the Social Security Fund (SSF). Please bring your insurance or SSF card and ID to registration, and our help desk will explain which services and medicines your scheme covers.
Our OPD runs Sunday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Call 021-422601 or 423182 to book, and bring any previous reports, scans and a list of your medicines. On public holidays only Emergency services are available.
