Overview
At the Department of Paediatrics, we are dedicated to nurturing the health and well-being of children from birth through adolescence. Our mission extends beyond treating illnesses; we foster healthy growth and development in a family-friendly environment. Our paediatricians care for newborns, infants, children and teenagers with everything from fevers, coughs and diarrhoea to long-term conditions such as asthma, epilepsy and developmental concerns, and we place a strong emphasis on vaccination and preventive care.
Alongside general paediatrics, we run dedicated clinics for newborns, vaccination, asthma and allergy, development and behaviour, cerebral palsy, paediatric cardiology, paediatric surgery and paediatric haematology and oncology. As a teaching hospital affiliated to Kathmandu University, our consultants work closely with emergency, intensive care, radiology and laboratory teams on one campus, so a sick child can move quickly from assessment to tests and treatment. Children who need closer monitoring are cared for with access to intensive care and advanced life support.
We know a hospital visit can be worrying for the whole family, so we take time to explain every step and involve parents in decisions. Our Emergency department is open 24 hours, every day, for urgent childhood illness. BMCTH accepts Government Health Insurance and the Social Security Fund (SSF); bring your card and your child's vaccination record to registration. To book, visit OPD Sunday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, or call 021-422601 or 423182.
