Common questions
You may need a neurosurgeon for back or neck pain spreading into the arms or legs with numbness or weakness, a brain or spine scan showing a tumour or bleed, or problems after a head or spine injury. Many back problems improve without surgery, and our team will discuss all options with you.
Come to Emergency immediately after any serious head or spine injury, or for a sudden severe headache, fits, loss of consciousness, sudden weakness or numbness of one side, or loss of bladder or bowel control with back pain. Our Emergency is open 24 hours, every day; call 021-422601.
Bring your CT or MRI films or CDs and reports, previous discharge summaries, and a list of the medicines you take. If you have had an operation elsewhere, any operation notes are very helpful.
BMCTH accepts Government Health Insurance and the Social Security Fund (SSF). Please bring your insurance or SSF card and ID to registration, and our help desk will explain which services and medicines your scheme covers.
Our OPD runs Sunday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and you can call 021-422601 or 423182 for appointments and enquiries. On public holidays only the Emergency department is open.
