OVERVIEW
BMCTH is actively supporting the National Safe Motherhood Programme to reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. Through this initiative, we provide preventive care, promote maternal health, and manage complications during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.

Services Available
- Birth preparedness: Support with planning delivery costs, transportation, and blood donors.
- ANC and PNC services: Provision of iron supplements, vaccinations (e.g., Td), and counseling on nutrition, rest, and newborn care.
- Danger sign identification during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum for timely care.
Early detection of complications and monitoring of fetal development.
- Transport Incentive: Cash support after delivery – NPR 1,500 (mountains), NPR 1,000 (hills), and NPR 500 (Terai).
- Incentive for ANC Visits: NPR 400 for completing 4 ANC visits (4th, 6th, 8th, and 9th months).
- Free Delivery Care: Normal delivery reimbursement (NPR 1,000–1,500) and NPR 7,000 for C-sections.
- Free Newborn Care: Care packages ranging from NPR 1,000 to NPR 8,000 based on the treatment required.
- Incentives for Health Workers: NPR 300 per delivery or newborn care provided.
- Prevention and management of pelvic organ prolapse and obstetric fistula.
- Cervical cancer screening and training for healthcare workers.
- Financial support to ensure timely referrals for critical cases.
Distribution of essential warmth kits for newborns and mothers to prevent hypothermia.

Eligibility and Requirements
Services are available to all Nepali citizens, especially pregnant women and newborns.
Nepali citizenship card required for incentives and care services.
The Safe Motherhood Programme services are available at BMCTH’s birthing center. Specialized care and newborn services are integrated into hospital operations to ensure comprehensive maternal care.
